We’re honored that InsuranceERM has named XyloPlan the 2025 Risk Innovation of the Year, recognizing our science-guided approach to wildfire modeling and community resilience. The award highlights how XyloPlan is helping insurers and local leaders confront one of the most complex and fast-changing risks of our time.

InsuranceERM’s Risk Innovation of the Year is one of the most respected distinctions in enterprise risk management. Winners are selected through a rigorous two-stage judging process by a panel of senior industry experts from across the Americas, chosen for their knowledge, objectivity, and credibility. The judges commended XyloPlan for integrating mitigation and disaster-response efforts into a next-generation wildfire model that reflects how fire truly spreads through communities.

Disrupting Fire Pathways to Restore Insurability

XyloPlan is a wildfire analytics platform that unites fire agencies, developers, and insurers around clear, science-backed strategies to reduce risk and sustain insurability. Our scenario-based Fire Pathways modeling simulates how wildfire moves from the wildlands into the built environment, allowing leaders to identify and disrupt the routes that most quickly carry fire toward homes, infrastructure, and other values at risk.

The alignment of topography, weather, and vegetative fuel combine to form Fire Pathways. XyloPlan helps communities prioritize the mitigations that interrupt Fire Pathways and slow fire progression, extend firefighting response time, and prevent catastrophic loss. The result of data driven mitigation is smarter planning, safer neighborhoods, and measurable progress toward creating Fire Adapted Communities.

A model that serves both insurers and communities

The InsuranceERM judges recognized that XyloPlan’s Fire Pathways model bridges the gap between science and insurability. Insurers can assess risk at both parcel and community levels, informed by real mitigation data, while local governments and land managers can use the same framework to plan and justify high-value mitigation investments. This shared view of wildfire risk turns data into action, supporting stronger underwriting, better funding decisions, and more resilient outcomes.

Advancing Risk Innovation

This recognition reflects what drives our work: empowering communities and insurers with the tools and data to live successfully with wildfire.
